Today we are going to be talking about the looming threat of big tech totalitarianism.

If you've watched this show before, you'll know that I care a lot about the ways that our lives

are being controlled and affected by big technological corporations. I mean, I've made like 20 videos on this subject and that's

an exaggeration but not even by that much. We've talked a lot here about how big companies are trying

to control the public discourse by excluding certain viewpoints from the conversation.

And as I'm sure a lot of you have heard this past week, things got dialed up to a whole new level.

As the BBC's Dave Lee reported on May 3rd,

Facebook is banning several prominent figures it regards as dangerous

individuals. The social network accused Alex Jones, host of Right Wing

Conspiracy website Inffor Wars, its UK editor Paul Joseph

Watson, and ex-B bright news editor Milo Yonopoulos of hate speech.

Louis Farrakhan, the nation of Islam leader who has expressed anti-Semitic views will also be excluded.

The latest ban also applies on Instagram which Facebook owns.

We've always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate,

regardless of ideology, the company said in a statement.

The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision

to remove these accounts today. The band group also includes Paul Nielin, a white supremacist,

and Laura Lumer, an anti-Islamic activist with a large social media presence.

So essentially Alex Jones, Paul Joseph Watson, Milo Yaneropolis, Laura Lumer, and Louis Faricon have been banned from Facebook and

Instagram for, according to the company, being dangerous individuals and promoting hate speech.
