How important is it for a Christian to have a firm understanding of what they believe in?

Well, we live in a world that's really the broad way and the

narrow way is very narrow going opposite direction so you're going to meet a lot of

non-christians out there but you're going to meet a lot of people who certainly

don't accept what we accept considering God's word and they'll have all sorts of

questions and if we can't answer those questions then we're being a very poor witness.

You know, First Peter 315 says always be prepared to give an answer or give a defense,

translated from the Greek word, Apologia.

Right. That's a big word for you.

Yes, yeah.

Apologia, which means to give a logical reason defense of the faith, and that's where

our word apologetics come from.

So we're not to apologize for our faith, quite the opposite, but we need to be able to give

answers. And, you know, it's interesting, the first time that I taught science in a public school

in Australia in 1975, before you were born?
