As the summer of 2021 approached, Maggie Murdoch and her husband, Elick, were reportedly

on the outs, having marriage problems.

And it appeared as though the couple had been living separately.

It was said that Maggie was staying at their million dollar waterfront house on Edisto

Beach, about an hour's drive southwest of Charleston, South Carolina.

Elick was a prominent lawyer from a very well-known South Carolina legal family.

For almost a century, the Murdoch's had held the position of 14th Circuit Solicitor, which

is the same as a district attorney or prosecuting attorney in other states.

According to reports, they were very influential.

While Maggie was staying at their oceanfront beach house near the Georgia border, Elick lived

on his family's massive compound in South Carolina's low country.

That's about an hour's drive northwest of the beach house.

Now, to anyone who knew Maggie and Elick at the time, marriage problems may not have been

that surprising.

Their alleged separation followed at least a half decade of very disturbing and tragic

events connected to their family.

Elick events that, when listed together, seemed like it was something out of a fiction

novel.

It all began on July 8, 2015.
