There's one word I want to encourage you to say more often around the right people.

And it's the opposite of what we're told. We're encouraged these days to say no more

often, but I want you to say yes. As a newlywed, it's one of the best pieces of marriage advice I was given,

and I think it makes friendships, families, and work environments better.

So we're often encouraged to say no to more volunteering, doing things we don't really want to do, overcommitting,

spreading ourselves too thin, and I am so here for that. Say no to the 80% of

things you don't really love and value.

Back in episode one, I mentioned an ex-boyfriend,

and while he wasn't the best guy to date,

he did have really wise friends.

And there was a couple that he really admired their marriage

and he had asked the guy, what's your best piece of advice?

And he said, say yes to each other as often as possible.

Hey babe will you pick up the dry cleaning on your way home?

Yep. Can we go see my parents over the summer?
