As a stay-at-home mama to two "tween" kids, I finally have more time to dedicate to reading. I have loved getting back into a passion of mine that I've had since I was a small girl. But sadly, what I quickly came to realize is that I really don't have a lot of local reading friends. As a way to connect with others who love to read just as much as I do, I started my "Bookstagram" account (@happiestwhenreading). This community has given me a place to engage in bookish conversations, and I can truly say I have made so many online friendships that I'm truly grateful to have.

rolling. Hey everyone, welcome to Sarah's Bookshelves Live. We're more or less at the midpoint

0:44.6

of 2019, and what better way to celebrate half a year of reading than to call out the books,

0:51.1

and I don't mean call out in a bad way, call out the books that deserved the

0:54.7

books that did not deserve the hype, and share our favorite underrated gems. So that's what

1:01.0

we're going to do today. And here to help me do that is Carla from the blog Happiest When Reading.

1:06.8

Carla joined me back in episode 8, and she's back again to help me dig through the books that have come out so far this year. Welcome back, Carla.

Hello, I'm happy to be back. So glad you're here. And before we get going, I just want to give you all a quick reminder. Yesterday, I posted my best books of 2019 so far list on the blog. So go check that out. And I will also link to it in the

1:30.9

show notes. Carla, how has your reading been so far this year? I feel like I've had a pretty good

1:37.2

reading year so far. I was looking at the end of last month and using kind of your rating guide, I'm at like a 3.9, which I feel

1:48.4

pretty excited about. Good. That's awesome. I think that's my average rating right now as well.

1:53.8

I feel like I have not been reading as much this year, which is not surprising because doing the

1:59.6

podcast is eating into some of my reading time.

2:02.6

But I feel like the books that I have read, I've only not liked five books that I've finished.

2:09.3

Oh, really? Yeah. Okay, mine would be higher than that. I don't know how high, but it would be more than

2:13.4

that. The thing that I find interesting, we've talked about this before, that I'm trying to
