Welcome to talking in scripture. I'm Mike and I'm Bryce and today we are going to be

talking about first and second Thessalonians. Paul's letter to the Thessalonians and First Thessalonians is often regarded as the earliest

document in the New Testament.

A lot of scholars look at this as being written around the year 50 in the common era or 50 AD.

And the vast majority of biblical scholars agree that First Thessalonians was a genuine letter of

Paul. This authentic letter of Paul holds significant

historical value. According to the account in Acts, if we go back and remember in the Book of

Acts, Paul goes on a mission to Europe when he gets a vision of a guy in Macedonia

The guy implores him to come and provide assistance. That's back in Acts chapter 16. When Paul

responds to this call he travels to Philippi and then he goes to Thessalonica.

In Thessalonika.

In Thessalonika, Paul engages with both Jews and Greeks who were drawn to the teachings of the Jewish

scriptures.

But when he's there, there's a ton of opposition and there's eventually riots.

And so Paul has to get out of there and he goes down to Athens and then to Corinth.

That's in Acts chapter 17, right about in the first 15 verses.
