I hate flying. flying.

I know, I know.

They say air travel is safer than driving a car.

And to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever crashed into a cloud.

I don't completely freak out like William Shatner in that twilight zone with the monster

on the wing of the plane, but I'm never completely comfortable on a plane either.

I suppose it's partially because of that loss of control.

The feeling that you're putting your life on the pilot's hands and in the hands of whatever aerodynamics

wizardry went into building the plane itself.

A skilled pilot is, of course, the best defense against the worst case scenario, crashing.

Well, what happens when someone else tries to seize control of the plane?

The first reported skyjacking occurred in December 1929,

when Jay Howard Doc Sellis was flying a postal route for a Mexican company.

While he was getting his plane ready on the runway in San Luis Petossi,

Doc Sellis claimed that General Saturnino Sadio, governor of the region, and one of Panchovia's last remaining

lieutenants, approached him with a gang of armed men and ordered him to take them to their chosen

destination.
