Hey, everybody, Tom Woods here. Dan McCarthy is back with us again. Dan is editor of Modern Age

and his recent spectator column, I thought, was worth a conversation. He's talking about

Trump and DeSantis and how DeSantis could, if he doesn't play his cards right,

wind up undermining the very political movement that he himself represents. Dan, welcome back to

the show. Thanks Tom, delighted to join you. All right, we have to talk about Trump and DeSantis

because your theory is very interesting to me about the effect that DeSantis could have.

Based on the decision he makes, he could wind up doing something that maybe he doesn't really want

to do. So there are different ways he could have an impact on the election, and there are different

ways he could affect the strength of the, let's say, Trump populist kind of movement. Your article

is called DeSantis is a Republican establishment win-win, which is a rather arresting title.

So do you mind accounting for yourself here? There are a lot of people who are excited about

DeSantis and you're suggesting there's a possibility that he could inadvertently be leading people

down a path they don't want to go. Yeah, it's a very strong headline, and headlines tend to be written

by the editors' publications rather than authors, which is the case here, but it is a fair headline.
