It is spread from person to person and via media, entertainment, and politics. And when you’ve caught it, you will start believing that we live in a world of shortage. You will prostrate yourself at the altar of recycling to prove to yourself that without recycling, we’re doomed because of shortage. You will buy a smaller car than you really want, not because you can’t afford anything else but because you believe we are short of oil and energy. You will keep your summer air conditioner set too high for comfort to save electricity. That is only part of what catching the shortage virus can do to your life.
