Summary

We're kicking off the year with a special guest—Eric House! We met up in the Sam Houston National Forest for a bit of a role reversal; this time, Eric took the mic to interview me. I gave him free rein to ask anything, resulting in a wide-ranging conversation that covered everything from the silly to the serious.

The heart of our chat focused on the last six years of work that culminated in 2025 with the launch of the WTS Showdown and the completion of the Texas Showdown Series. We also looked ahead to 2026, discussing my goals for Doom High Watch and my current training mindset.

Eric is a fantastic interviewer who asks truly meaningful questions, including a "gamut" of listener inquiries that kept me on my toes. Of course, it wouldn't be a proper meetup without some trail time—prior to recording, we squeezed in a mountain bike ride that turned into a total adventure involving getting lost, a minor collision, and hiking our bikes out on our shoulders. It was perfect.

0:31.4

he's got the agenda, and he's got the questions, and I tried to provide some answers.

Like any good podcast, you always think of the best things to say after you record the episode.

0:42.4

But Eric did a great job.

0:45.0

I have to give him a shout out and props because this was totally his idea.

0:50.6

He just approached me randomly and said, hey, man, how about I interview you for your

0:55.4

podcast, which I thought was a really nice offer. And I typically don't like being on the other side

1:00.7

of the microphone, but Eric did a great job. He facilitated a really fun conversation. And I think

1:07.6

I actually enjoyed it. So I hope that you do too. We took a deep dive into 2025 and kind of talked about

1:13.8

what's been going on behind the scenes in a lot of areas.

We also answer quite a few,

1:22.6

or I guess I answer quite a few listener questions.

1:26.4

And yeah, we just had a really good conversation. We went for a

1:29.9

10 mile bike ride in the Sam Houston National Forest, some single track out there, got a little bit

1:35.7

lost. We did some bushwhacken. We did some hika biking and Eric crashed into me. There's video to

1:42.8

prove it. But we're all right. He crashed into me,

1:47.4

but he definitely got the worst of it on his ribs. But anyway, we had a good ride. We had some good
