Drown at Irish folklore, probably the most famous magical creature of them all, is

the fairy. But contrary to what Disney might tell you, not all fairies are

cute tiny women with wings who fly around spreading fairy dust and bringing

good fortune. According to the original folklore, some fairies run the gamut

from being simply mischievous, all the way to being outright evil, doing some

of the most terrible things imaginable. There's one particular type of

fairy we've talked about before in this show called a changeling. This is an

ugly or physically deformed fairy that is placed in the beds of kidnapped

human children, taking their lives for their own. The idea that fairies like to

steal children and replace them with another is usually done out of cruelty, and an

outright hatred against humans. Although stories of changelings are just

fairy tales, hence the name, something much closer to the truth has occurred

several times throughout history. To a devoted parent there can be nothing more

terrifying than the thought of losing one of your children. It's practically
