political writer, I sat down with Adam on a recent visit to Los Angeles to assess his

career, the state of journalism, and our politics.

And you're new natural habitat, Los Angeles.

I'm not used to that.

You're a New York City guy.

You're from New York.

Yeah, I'm from the suburbs of New York.

Yeah, well I mean, I was born in New York City, but I grew up in Westchester.

And there isn't a lot written about you.

I think by design, because you want everything else to be the story.

That's the old reporter's instinct.

I was about to say, why do you think that?

I guess it's the same.
