On today's show, we are talking about July 4th and the legacy of the Declaration of Independence.

Saturday in the park, I think it was the fourth of July.

Happy birthday, America, you don't look a day over 240.

And to my British listeners, well, I will let Dirk Diggler express my sentiments on this Independence Day.

You know, that's boss of me?

What, you're the king, huh?

Yes!

You can't touch me, man.

No, no, no, no.

You shut up to, you're not the mother me, and you're not my boss.

You're not my mother. You're not my fucking mom.

If you had to boil down the Declaration of Independence to a guttural expression, a vibe,

if you will, it is you're not the boss of me.

Yes, there's a lot of beautiful prose.

The Declaration's second paragraph, the one with the indelible line, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, is an eloquent argument for inalienable rights and against the divine right of kings.

But most of our national charter is about the cruelty of King George III. It is an indictment. The king has dissolved our legislatures. He has stationed

his army in our homes. He has detained us without trial. He has, quote, plundered our seas,

ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people. King George III is not the boss of us.
