Summary

Self Confidence, we all want it, we all deserve it, and yet we all struggle to acquire it.

WHY?

WELL, it's because we're not very good at celebrating ourselves. So let's talk about life, liberty, and the pursuit of your best, strongest, happiest and most vulnerable self.

You guys, episode two, it's here. We're doing this. It's a podcast. Welcome to episode two of the Run, selfie, repeat podcast. My name is Kelly Roberts, and I'm so glad. So, so, so, so, so glad that you join me, be Capuz. Today, I want to get a

0:24.8

little bit real and talk about something that is very important to me. It's near and dear to my

0:28.7

heart and it's something that I battle probably every day. I don't know why I'm talking like this.

0:33.7

I kind of sound like a little like voice model. Okay, but seriously, today I want to talk

0:39.3

about self-confidence because it is something that ebbs and flows and rules my life. And for me,

0:48.9

a lot of my self-confidence is tied to my body image and the way I see and feel about myself. So if I'm having a

0:56.6

crummy day where I just look in the mirror and I don't exactly feel like me, it influences everything I do.

1:04.9

But here is something that I truly, truly believe, and that is that you are already the best version of yourself possible because you are the only version of yourself possible.

1:17.2

You can remember yourself five years ago and you were your happiest and strongest.

1:21.0

You can think about a year from now after you, you know, accomplish that New Year's resolution that you made to lose 20 pounds and go to the

1:29.1

gym every day and become one of those CrossFit people. I say you're the strongest version of

1:33.5

yourself today and it's all about striving for a stronger tomorrow. For me, I think the biggest

1:39.7

lesson I've learned with self-confidence is that it really does require work. Something that running has

1:46.9

actually taught me is that I feel the most in control when I know that I'm doing everything I can

1:53.3

to be the strongest version of myself possible. So that means like I have a goal and I'm working

1:57.6

towards it. I'm doing everything I can. I'm eating well. I'm, you know,

2:01.5

not worrying if I have a cheeseburger here or there because it's all about balance, you know. It's the worst when you have like a holiday rolls around and you have like 13 cookies and you sit there thinking, shit, I shouldn't have done that. I need more self-control. I'm going to feel like crap now I need to go to to the gym tomorrow for two hours to work that off. 13 cookies is 5,000 calories. You know what? I actually need to go to the gym for five hours. Like that's not balanced. Like sometimes you need to live a little. And for me, a lot of that is like I associated so much shame with my with my body image in my weight and the way I saw myself and a big revelation for me

2:36.7

was kind of shining a light on my insecurities because they're kind of like the boogeyman

2:41.2

and it's that thing that hinders my self-confidence you know I've always struggled with my weight

2:46.3

I was always a little bit you know curvier biggerubbier, whatever you want to say than my

2:51.1

friends. But arguably, all my friends, my sister, everyone was super athletic. They spent their

2:55.9

weekends playing soccer, surfing, doing gymnastics, doing all these different things. And that wasn't me.
