Summary

As the film Sound of Freedom tops box offices around the country, it is important to highlight all forms of neglect and harm America’s children face. The fact that the left feels emboldened enough to push back against such a film and even begin to insinuate that the issue at hand is a “conspiracy theory” shows that the wellbeing of children is, unfortunately, not at the top of everyone's mind.

Today I am joined by a real hero, someone who has dedicated their life to helping children, teaching them about God, and helping them survive and make it through imperfect and even traumatic situations. Natalie Tanase is a founding member of the MoveMeant Messenger. Her greatest passion includes her marriage of 16 years and her 3 active boys. She has a redemptive story of a fatherless girl and child of an addict who found hope and healing and wants to share that with others.

Natalie started the Movement Messenger which seeks to help, build up, and protect children living with parents or guardians suffering from addiction.

Highlights:

“According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration, they report that one in eight children have a parent with a substance abuse disorder.” - Natalie Tanase

“A staggering statistic is that 90% of our incarcerated today come from a child who experienced trauma.” - Natalie Tanase

“I remember this feeling of like I'm not loved, I mean nothing, and I know that feeling so well because you question your value and your worth.” - Natalie Tanase

Hey gang, it's me Dr. Steve, and as the film Sound of Freedom tops box offices around the country, it's important to highlight all forms of neglect and harm that so many of America's children are facing today.

1:02.0

The fact that the left feels emboldened enough to push back against such a film and even insinuate that the issue at hand is nothing more than a conspiracy theory shows that the well-being of children is not quite at the top of everyone's priority list.

Natalie, thanks so much for joining us here. It's great to have you.

1:45.0

Well, thank you Dr. Steve. I'm pleased to be here.

1:48.0

Well, it's awesome to have you here. So just tell us what is the Movement Messenger?

1:53.0

Well, we are a nonprofit with the hope to reach children specifically that are dealing with trauma and children of addicts.

2:01.0

And how did you start? Yeah, how did you start that?

2:04.0

Well, that is it. You know, that's a great question. And if I could, if I could just kind of take you back a little bit or ask the audience to close your eyes and just imagine, imagine a child who's Christmas list and letters to Santa included a request for their mom or their dad to get sober.

2:21.0

I didn't ask for a pair of shoes or a bike. They just asked for their mom or dad to get healthy.

2:27.0

And maybe you've heard of a story of a young girl sitting outside crying while her mom shot up heroin on the verge of overdose.

2:37.0

Picture a child or a teenager whose friends ask about their mom's arm bleeding. Well, she's because she just shot up in the bathroom or having sleepovers and your friends come and some your parents friend actually overdoses in the driveway.

2:51.0

And the reality is that's my story. I was that girl and that own story inspired me to give back to this very specific demographic.

3:01.0

You know, one of the things I found with traumatic experiences or it can do one of two things in people's lives. You see all kinds of Harvard researchers about, you know, one one twin ends up in prison and one tune ends up successful.

3:13.0

And they both say, oh, it's because of my father and their father was in prison.

3:17.0

And these traumatic experiences can do one of two things. They can charge you to want to overcome or they can, you can replicate the experience.

3:25.0

And so we want to provide an experience for kids that charges them to want to overcome to that gives them a vision of a life that looks different than maybe the life that they've had and show them love and a pathway to healing to change the trajectory of their life.
