Well, today I want to take a magnifying glass to a classic text in our tradition.

And it's a text that when I was sort of growing up as a Libertarian, we knew about, but

it didn't have quite the central role that it seems to today.

And that may be because the Mises Institute has published it as a very small publication

in its own right.

And that is the Murray Rothbard essay Anatomy of the State.

That's an essay that you can find in Rothbard's book, egalitarianism, as a revolt against nature

and other essays, which is a great book in itself.

But they've taken that anatomy of the state and published it on its own.

And in doing so and also publishing it online, they've reached an awful lot of people with

it who consider it to be essential to their understanding and essential to maybe getting

them out of customary ways of thinking about the state and helping them to think in fresh
