Hi, everybody.

Tom Woods here, joined once again by a old friend, Marco Basani, who is a professor at

the University of Milan, an author of the brand new book, Chaining Down Leviathan, the

American Dream of Self-Government, 1776 to 1865.

This is history as Thomas Jefferson himself would have written it.

And I think you will find great intellectual pleasure in it.

And you will also find yourself liberated as from shackles.

That is to say, ideas that were drilled into your head as a kid are just going to fly

away as you read this book and come face to face with the actual history of the United

States rather than the cartoon version.

We're going to devote this episode to a discussion of the material in Marco's book specifically

on the Philadelphia Convention of 1787 and the years slightly before and perhaps slightly

after that period.
