Well, we have a rule when it comes to media coverage of mass shootings in the United States.

If the mass shooting can somehow be linked to a right-wing cause, then we must question this entire

conservative infrastructure in the United States. If somebody can tangentially be linked to a

conservative show or to a conservative politician, we have to question the very premises of conservatism

itself, because obviously every terrible iteration of right-wing ideology is telescoped into

some evil white supremacist shooter, for example. If, however, a mass shooter is a left-winger,

then it's probably a gun, or it's oppression of some sort, or maybe it's

mental illness. This is the way the math works. Well, we have the latest iteration of this

particularly stupid narrative device today. The New York Post talks about an attempted shooting

at Joel Austin's packed Houston area megachurch on Sunday. The person who did the shooting previously penned anti-Semitic writings had a recorded

history of mental health issues and used a weapon with a free Palestine sticker in the

brazen attack.

Not only that, this person identifies as a woman, identified as a man.

This person called herself Jeffrey. Now, this person did have a history of mental

illness. So according to the authorities, this person was put under an order for emotional

detention, which means that officers transported her to a medical facility in 2016 because she

was deemed a danger to herself or others. But then the person was let out. I don't mention the name of mass

shooters on the show because mass shooters are typically looking for some sort of notoriety.

So this is a rule that I have. It's maybe the one thing that I can do as a member of the media

to try to decrease the amount of mass shootings in the United States. For example,

don't give all sorts of attention to the name of the
