Summary

The Bible has absolutely changed my life and met me in the deepest places of my heart, but that doesn’t mean it’s an easy book to understand. If you feel like the Bible has grown distant or dry, or if you’re simply confused by what you read at times, you’re not alone! This week we’re going to join Nehemiah and the Jewish people of the day opposite the Water Gate in Jerusalem as God’s Word was brought back into the center of city life after a long exile. You’ll be amazed at the people’s reaction—they wept, celebrated, feasted, mourned, studied, and everything in between. God’s Word was and is so compelling. We’ll also discover that even God’s chosen people needed explanation and instruction about God’s Law. This should encourage us as we seek to grow in our understanding. Perhaps what excites me most is that the Word of God is meant to intersect with our daily lives all these years later. 0:57.1	I am so glad you're here today as we look at a speaking God and the joy of God's word and what it brings to our lives. Now, I have to tell you,
1:04.3	I am sneaking in this episode right before I go and I pick up my niece and nephew and one of their buddies from
1:12.9	church camp. So I've been doing carpal duty and I have been able to be privy to the conversations
1:21.2	of 10-year-olds and 9-year-olds. And it has been quite fascinating. Yesterday, I just had to like literally disassociate from the fact
1:30.9	that all three of them had snow cones in my car. And, you know, as a parent, you're probably
1:37.4	thinking, oh, Kelly, please, are you kidding me? Like my car has been trashed my entire, you know,
1:42.3	parenthood. But, but I'm an aunt. So I try to actually keep a halfway
1:47.1	decent car. And, you know, I really, I just have to just sort of, like I said, I have to just
1:52.5	kind of separate from the whole experience. But I love these kids. And one of the things that I have
1:57.4	just loved picking them up every day is asking them. Of course, this is the
2:02.6	question that we always ask kids. What was your favorite thing that you did today? And what did
2:07.2	you learn about Jesus if it's a church event? And so it's been great for me to know that they
2:13.2	are learning God's word at such a young age. And my niece recently got back from another camp,
2:21.0	and it was an overnight camp. And they went, it was so awesome. They went tubing. They fished.
