Summary

The hormones are back. On this week's episode of Monocycle, Leandra confronts her narcissism, yells at herself and tries to turn negatives into positives. All anecdotes are shared with the intention that you'll be able to connect with them, of course, because at the end of the day, aren't we all "going through stuff"? Might as well hold each other's hands along the way. Logo by Kelly Shami - legsny.com/ Edited by Nicholas Quazzy Alexander

I was at a dinner last night sitting next to someone who didn't speak any English on one side and someone who only spoke film production on the other.

And both seemed incredibly interesting, but I literally did not speak the language of either of them.

Across from me was another person who spoke very little English. To his left was another person

0:22.2

who spoke film. And to his right were more non-English speaking people all in New York. I felt a little

0:29.9

bit like I was, I don't know, in Paris during Fashion Week, among the kind of French people who scoff at women who only speak English

0:40.9

and don't want to have anything to do with them. And so I felt very little. And on top of that,

we were at an incredible restaurant, but unfortunately, all of the dishes that were served

0:51.1

were either shellfish or meat dishes, neither of which forms of

0:55.4

nourishment I eat.

And so I was hungry and frustrated that nobody around me spoke English and far from home.

And then like a beacon of hope, I came upon someone who I know who spoke English, who

1:07.6

wanted to chat.

1:08.6

And so she sat down next to me, bubbly and beautiful and

1:11.4

blonde as she is, and she was like, how's your life, Leandra? And instead of being like, it's good,

1:15.8

thank you, I was like, nobody around me speaks English. I'm fucking hungry and far from home.

1:21.6

So after we had that conversation, which was a whole lot of me being like, suck, suck, suck, sucks, suck. By the way, nothing sucks. It doesn't suck. I mean, the only reality in which

1:32.4

life would suck would be if I were like inside that hole that Buffalo Bill created for that

1:37.6

woman that he tried to kill in silence of the lambs. Like, that's where I had to take myself last

1:42.6

night. I was like, Leandra, at least you're in the back of an Uber right now on your way home to a comfortable bed

1:47.4

and not inside a hole lathering cream on your body to beef up your skin so that someone can ultimately skin you and wear you on their person.

1:56.5

And so you think that that put things back into perspective for me, right?

2:00.2

And yet, this morning when I woke up at 7.31 a.m. to the sight of my husband's ass,
