Young, it's me, Dr. Steve, your patron professor, and do I have some good news for the future of our nation? According to the latest polls, young people, particularly high school boys, are more conservative than ever.

That's right. According to the monitoring the future survey, it's a scholarly survey that dates back to the 1970s.

12th grade boys are twice as likely to identify as conservative or very conservative as opposed to liberal, 25% of high school boys identify as politically conservative, only 13% identify themselves as liberal.

According to the report, these percentages represent a striking shift in the political views of boys, as recently as the late 2000s liberal boys occasionally outnumbered conservatives.

Back in the Carter era, both boys and girls lean liberal. Those days are now officially over. It's apparently cool to be conservative among high school boys. Now, what's so fascinating about this survey is how it corroborates previous studies over the last few years that should the very same trend towards conservatism among young people in general.

And this trend goes way beyond the 1970s. This is huge. Let's start with some findings regarding millennials, those born between 1980 and 1994.

A recent paper published in the personality and social psychology bulletin found that millennials were actually more likely to identify as politically conservative than either baby boomers or generation exers did when they were at the same age.

So the survey, which was based on three long running national surveys, which allows researchers to track political identification among multiple generations, the survey found that 23% of millennials entering college.

Okay, so that's nearly a quarter of millennials around the age of 18 identified in their words as quote far right, which I'm assuming means nationalist right or anti globalist right the way we use the term only 17% of baby boomers born just after World War two and 22% in generation

exers, the following generation identified as so called far right when they were the same age around 18. So we're seeing a clear movement favoring not only the increase of conservatism, but an increase in a kind of conservatism what these scholars are calling more far right conservatism a nationalist populist conservatism.

In fact, the same study, just like the most recent monitoring the future survey found that more high school seniors identifies politically conservative today than they did 10 years ago and more identify conservative today than they did back even in the 1980s during the Reagan era, my era.
