Yeah, you know, what's interesting about the whole aspect of the veneration of Mary is

that it's relatively recent throughout Catholic theology.

As a matter of fact, all of our understanding, all of Catholic's understanding of Mary is

within the last 150 years, within the last 150 years, they develop immaculate conception,

which before that Thomas Aquinas denied, within the last 150 years, we started to believe.

The Catholic started to believe that her body was taken up to heaven, that she was the queen

of heaven, that she was sinless, that's a new theology that they believe within the

last 150 years, the perpetual virginity of Mary, all of these things were not a thing

until 150 years or so ago.

Does the average Catholic understand all that?

No, I don't think that most Catholics think that whatever doctrine the papacy have brought

about has always been, and they've just kind of come along and reaffirmed it, but actually

there's a lot of new Catholic dogmas that are younger than the United States of America.

I mean, this is stuff that the early Christians simply didn't believe.
