A week ago, I was called in to investigate a very strange incident

at a house-court little paddocks in Chipping Clegghorn.

The local Gazette had advertised a murder that would take place there that day at 6.30 p.m.

And precisely at that time, a man suddenly appeared, fired two shots at Letitia Blacklock,

and then, apparently, turned the gun on himself.

Two more deaths followed, Dora Bunner, Miss Blacklock's companion, and a neighbour, Miss Murgatroyd,

who'd suddenly recollected
