Bill Bradley was a childhood hero of mine when he was a star for the really great New York

Nick teams, but then he became something more than an athlete.

He became a United States Senator, and there he led the last real successful effort

for genuine tax reform.

That means blowing up all these egregious loopholes in order to lower rates.

There's talk of tax reform again, although it doesn't sound like that.

So I thought I'd go and talk to Bill Bradley, and I did the other day.

So one of my favorite roasts of all time, I don't know if you remember this, was one of

you.

I can't remember.

I know you didn't do it for your own benefit.

It may have been for the benefit of your campaign or something in 2000, but I know Jesse Jackson

was a roaster.

And you guys each got off great lines at the others expense, but he had a whole riff about

how sorry he felt for you, because there you were, a young man wanting to be a great

basketball player, and you had to put up with all of the challenges that came from coming

from the right side of the tracks.

But that was true.
