Hello and welcome to the Modern Maker podcast for Thursday, February 27th, 2020, otherwise known as Polar Bear Day.

And in honor of Polar Bear Day, I figured I would read you guys some polar bear fun facts.

All right, I got it pulled up here on a website.

Number one, the classic white bears are not really white.

Yes, they have black skin and it's actually like a translucent fur.

What are you on this website at the same time?

Oh, go ahead.

I actually learned this in architecture school and it was during a lecture where Stephen Hall, the famous architect, was presenting the translucent insulation technology that he was using to make these like all glass

buildings that were better insulated than typical windows. So he used the

classic Polar Bear example. He used a classic polar bear example. So he almost

made like it was like a monofilament clear glass like fiberglass and it was filled

into these glass they weren't really like glass. Imagine like a

glass block that was elongated in more of like a tube or a channel and so there's

these frosted glass planks that were about six inches thick.

And then he stuffed them all the way filled to the top with this like translucent fibers

that was designed after Polar Bear fur Fur. Hmm.

We should just go through these top 10 facts and see if Ben can somehow relate them to.
