A French court has just barred the country's leading right-wing politician, Marine Le Pen,

from running for office.

The court sentenced her to four years in prison as well.

The French ruling comes just months after Romania's constitutional court overturned the results

of that nation's presidential election, which also coincidentally was won by the right-wing

candidate.

And both rulings, of course, come shortly after Democrats in the U.S. tried, but happily failed

to preempt our nation's leading right-winger from winning his second term by kicking him off the ballot,

as well as by trying to imprison him for different ways, as well as by nearly blowing his head off. Now, this is not how democracies

are supposed to operate. In democracies, the people are supposed to be able to elect the candidates

they want. In practice, however, many nations of the West are allowed to elect whomever they please,

except for the candidates that liberal elites don't like, which tells us a lot of the West are allowed to elect whomever they please, except for

the candidates that liberal elites

don't like. Which tells us

a lot about the actual regimes

that rule us. Because,

and I'm not the first to observe it,

sovereign is he

who decides the exception.
