Summary

At the end of the year Sofiane made a post on social media that caught my eye. The first line read, "So where do I go from here?". Sofiane is arguably the best ultra bikepack racer in the world. A position that he earned by winning some of the most grueling races in bikepacking, in some cases multiple times. Having accomplished so much, he now finds himself in a unique position and wondering what's next.

Today we dig a little deeper into Sofiane's thoughts about his career, his accomplishments, and what, in fact, is next for him.

that he would be interested in diving into further, to which he immediately agreed.

And I think for context of today's conversation, instead of sending you to his Instagram to read his post right now,

0:42.1

so this can be a self-contained episode and hopefully make it a little bit easier on you,

0:47.5

I'm going to take just a moment to read his post that he made.

0:51.9

The graphic associated with this post was a list of all of his wins from

0:57.3

2019 through 2023. And the caption reads as follows. So where do I go from here? Last year,

1:06.7

I realized what started as a dream before transforming into an ambition by winning the tour divide. I

1:13.8

subsequently won my second and third Silk Road Mounted Bike race. Last summer, I dug as deep as I could

1:21.1

to secure the third one, a race that came as close to perfection as I think possible. I climbed to the pinnacle of off-road

1:29.0

Ultra, exceeding by far what I originally had set out to achieve. Is it great? Yeah, sure. But who wakes

1:36.8

up in the morning thinking about their past achievements? No one. People wake up in the morning

1:41.8

thinking about new challenges. The problem is that there's not many

1:45.2

challenges left for me in this sport it can't just be about racking up wins it can't be about

1:51.6

just doing my job there has to be more for me to go out and push my limits this is a time of doubt

1:58.3

this is a time that i knew would come when i'm done proving to me and to the world that I can be the best.

2:06.2

Is it great to be a champion? I honestly don't know. It sure is great to become one. There's nothing better than having goals and working hard to achieve them.
