And I'm Ashland and I was the portrayed.

And I'm Kobe, the recovering addict.

All right, we're going to talk about that voice in your head,

that negative self-talk, overcoming that voice that speaks shame into your mind all the time.

And we have a name for him in your head and his name is Spike and so Kobe do you want to just kind of introduce our audience to where we came up with the spike narrative and what that means?

Yes.

Pretty interesting.

So when we were going through specialized therapy

with our girls from sexual abuse we found a doctor or psychiatrist here in town and

he he told Lucy when she was four years old

okay Lucy because this happened this person who abused you this person introduced someone else into your life that tells you that you're no good, that this is your fault, that you should hit your sister, sass your teacher, talk back to your mom and dad, disobey them,

or touch some notes inappropriately. Any number of those things.

And his approach with her was this he's like you need to

draw a picture of this person to give this person a name. So four years old she

drew a demented version of Mike Wazowski for Monsters, Inc on this piece of paper,

which was really kind of funny because we realized, okay, this is how, like, as grown up as this topic is,

she's still in this place and his instructions were very, very clear to her and she totally got it.

He said, okay, anytime you have a thought, oh, so she drew this picture and she called it spike. So this this this she named him spike.

She named him spike I didn't say that part but but he said anytime you have a spike thought
