They believed in ghosts and witches, curses and devils.

And they believed in monsters.

Oh yes, they believed in monsters, all right.

Between 1764 and 1767, the people of Jevedan were terrorized by their very own monster.

This isn't some fairy tale either.

All this really happened.

During those three years, a creature straight out of people's worst nightmares stalked

the locals and may have been responsible for killing and eating more than a hundred people.

As the story spread and word of the creature became more well known throughout France, it became

known as Le Bette de Jervadon, the Beast of Jevident Or more often simply, Le Bette, the Beast.
