Summary

The latest episode from The Messy Table  is hot off the press (and one day early due to Fall Break)! This is fantastic news because: (1) I could use a midweek pick-me-up right about now, and (2) life is JUST BETTER with Britton Bill. Britton is wife to Isaiah, mama to sweet Blaine, a pastor at Life.Church, and one of my very favorite people.
We carved out some time for her to come over—she picked up Starbucks and I reheated some chocolate chip pumpkin bread from LifeGroup the night before. We chatted about life and what she's been learning, as well as tackled some questions we're all asking ourselves: How can I go deeper in my relationships? How do I get beyond surface level and beneath the superficial? How in the world do we discern God's will in the face of tough decisions?
"We can't grow without getting uncomfortable."
It's good, y'all. Reminders I need this very day! Life isn't perfect, but God is doing important work. So whether you're driving, getting some exercise, taking a break from work, folding laundry, sitting in the carpool line, or hiding in the bathroom from your toddler—grab (or reheat) your coffee, pull up a chair, and join us!

Hey everybody and welcome to the messy table where life is not always perfect but God is always at work.

0:21.9

And guys, this table is simply a common imperfect gathering space where we can all take a breather

0:26.5

for one hot second and remember what actually matters. In John chapter 7, some religious leaders

0:32.3

are trying to condemn Jesus for healing a man on the Sabbath. And Jesus is trying to show them that they're

0:37.7

actually missing the point. A guy was deathly sick and then healed, but they missed the miracle

0:43.2

because they were distracted by a technicality. In verse 24, Jesus goes on to say, look beneath the

0:49.6

surface so you can judge correctly. Another version says, stop judging by near appearances, but instead

0:55.1

judge correctly. What he's really saying is look closer, dig deeper, don't settle for the shallow

1:00.8

when the real stuff is underneath, because things aren't always what they seem on the surface,

1:04.8

are they? I know I don't want to be someone who misses it, but sometimes I do because I'm not

1:09.6

willing to take the time to dive in,

1:11.8

which is why y'all I am super excited about my guest today, who's not only one of my favorite

1:16.5

people in the world, but she's really passionate about this topic. Britain Bill is wife to Isaiah,

1:22.3

mom to one-year-old Blaine, a pastor at Life Church, and a trustworthy friend. More than anything,

1:27.2

she's the real deal and lives what she preaches.

1:30.0

What Britain won't tell you herself is that she's constantly putting others ahead of herself

1:33.8

and asking God to give her eyes to see what he sees.

1:36.9

She loves Jesus, she's humble and wise, and she'd probably give you the shirt off her back.

1:41.7

Not only is Britain a strong voice and leader in our church, but she's not afraid to get her hands dirty, whether that's behind the scenes or in the

1:47.8

spotlight. So whatever you're up to right now, whether you're running errands or crunching numbers,

1:52.7

folding laundry, working out, maybe you're hiding in the bathroom from your toddler. Just grab your

1:57.4

coffee and join us. I promise you'll be glad you did.
