What's up guys? Welcome to another five-minute fatherhood. So we want you guys to build awesome family teams, and that means your

0:38.2

relationship with your wife is so critical. And so my favorite marriage advice is straight from

0:45.0

the Bible. There's this amazing verse in 1 Peter 3.7, and he simply says,

0:50.3

husbands live with your wives in an understanding way. And what I have taken from that

0:55.8

is that I think that every husband should go to school to get a PhD on his wife. You should

1:03.1

understand her at an incredibly deep level. What Peter is saying here is you need to understand

1:09.6

your wife, live with your wife, but you're

1:12.4

doing it the way that you're designing your lifestyle, the way of life, is through the understanding

1:18.8

of your wife. Another way to say this, Paul said in Ephesians 528, husbands should love their wives

1:23.4

as their own bodies. Now, what happens with your own body is you kind of like, you just, you,

1:28.2

you have a PhD in your own body. If you like spend much time thinking about like, oh, like, I know what I like to eat. I know how I like to sleep. I know what happens when I don't, you know, get exercise or I know what, you know, I know all these things. I know, I know my body really well. I inhabit it. I've got, you know, my 10,000 hours of

1:45.8

experience of, in, you know, embodying myself. And Paul's like, that is the way in which you should

1:52.3

love your wife. It's the same thing Peter's saying. You have to understand your wife. And so,

1:56.7

part of this, you guys, is a lot of times we will, as men, have sort of a, I would say,

2:03.7

sort of a general template of wife, right? And then we compare our wife to that template. And if you

2:09.5

want to figure out a way to destroy your marriage, like constantly try to get your wife to live

2:17.3

up to your template of what a wife is.

2:20.6

Like that is not what Peter's saying here.

2:22.9

That is not what Paul is saying here.
