All right everybody welcome to the air-gators like show. We've got a very special episode today what what we're going to do today is we're going to pull

back some old audio off of an interview that I did with Petai and this was two man seven years ago maybe

This is before Adventures in golf before anything else and you know if you don't know P-Tai this guy is just his imprint on the game of golf is

impressive right he a lot of the architects of today worked under him, Jim Urbina, you know, and a lot took lessons from him,

Doke and Hans and everybody. And Die really forged a way forward

in a really creative way in golf course architecture. You know, TPCSawgrass obviously his most well-known creation, the origin of the 17th

whole he'll tell you in this podcast, his wonderful wife Alice was very accomplished golfer herself and she definitely did a lot to further

dies designs and obviously it was a great support throughout his life as a partner.

And so this interview came about because I was sitting in a hot tub in Florida and I was telling

someone that I was making a movie about golf and

meditation. This is probably about eight years ago. This is before you know anything

really this is just me bumbing around sleeping in my car grabbing a camera and shooting golf and sorry my

phone's on and so I'm sitting in this hot tub I'm telling this guy Brendan and I'm like hey man you know I'm going in this hot tub, I'm telling this guy Brendan, you know, I'm doing this golf meditation documentary.

He says, oh, do you want to interview Pete Die?

And I was like, okay, you know, I mean I knew who Pete Die was and I, you know, but I didn't know everything about it and I wasn't nearly into golf course

architecture the way I am now and I find it so endlessly fascinating with the

history and the current trends in the game and places like Sweetens go over a stream song, a fascinating old course.

Obviously you know that we talk a lot about architects here, it's the real game that we play.

We're playing against the

architect playing against the course the creation that they made, the decisions they

made. And you know Tom Doke says and one of the times I interviewed him he said you know

Pete die if you saw that people were aiming at a tree, he'd cut the tree down.
