And that is exactly what I do.

I take the stories from the week, the big stories, the stuff

that gets into that 24-7 cable news cycle and seems always to be about personalities and drama. It feels like a soap opera or a reality show and it

might appear to be smoke and mirrors or just generating ratings and revenues from the lowest common denominator.

But I have come to believe that anything that makes that major, major news cycle,

anything that gets the big headlines it's not necessarily fake

it's not necessarily false but it is there for a reason and it's there for a reason

almost always to influence your decision, your opinions, your consent to the way things are run, to the policies of our government.

And almost always, for something to rise to that level of propaganda it probably would not pass in a normal course of legislative action,

the normal kind of methods of civilization

that have emerged over the millennia.

And the story I want to focus on this week

is a unique example.
