heat of the Texas sun. It was the only thing they could do to make ends meet because Terry's

father drank up all their money. She was a lonely child. She would have had a baby

sister except the lord took the poor girl during childbirth. It wasn't long after that

when the good lord took her mother too. Little Terry could only stand by and watch as her

mother gasped away her last few breaths to tuberculosis. She died in 1947. This left

Terry in the care of her abusive alcoholic father, but that didn't last either. By the

time she turned nine, she found herself being dumped off in an orphanage. It was a terrible
