| 1:12.7 | one variation or another on animals and that humans are just animals. But that isn't true. And |
| 1:20.1 | there are a lot of reasons for that. One of them is that human beings can laugh, animals don't |
| 1:26.8 | laugh, human beings can speak, animals cannot speak, |
| 1:31.3 | they can communicate, but they cannot construct abstract thoughts and certainly not communicate |
| 1:37.7 | them. We are capable of recognizing our consciousness and probing into ourselves, which animals do not do. |
| 1:48.9 | You might ask, how do I know that animals are not aware of their consciousness? |
| 1:54.2 | And the answer is, I'll tell you one day. |
| 1:57.3 | But for now, one of the ways that I want to focus on today on how we can tell |
| 2:04.3 | that humans are a unique species on this planet is that only humans, that's you and me, |
| 2:12.8 | are tormented by the idea of today's show. Why aren't you where you want to be? And yes, we're all |
| 2:23.8 | tormented in that each and every one of us has goals and dreams and desires and yearnings and |
| 2:30.1 | aspirations and we're not there. And in many ways, we are tormented by it, and perhaps we're |
| 2:37.8 | even meant to be tormented, because otherwise, what would be the drive to try and repair that? |
