Welcome to the Nodding mythology podcast, I'm Daniel Farand of the Kune Hornsbergen and today I'm joined by Eric Westcoat. I was too busy focusing on

your first name that I forgot the second name. So Eric Westcoat and we're going to talk a little bit about Scottish poetry, one specific type in, I guess, yeah, one type specifically would be the right way to put it.

Yeah, do you want to just give it a little introduction? specifically would be the right right way to put it.

Yeah, do you want to just give it a little introduction I reckon to kind of who you are?

I have a, I recently finished a PhD

and from the University of Iceland in Icelandic literature on the topic of the craft of skulls.

And those are poets who do, and post-Medival Icelandic folk tales who do magic by means of their improvised poetry.

And for that, an MA in Viking and medieval North studies from the University of Iceland

and University of Oslo.

And I have other research interests in things

like mythology, Old Norse religion,

ruins, magic, and esotericism.

And I also write some creative poetry on those topics as well.

And I have, for all that I have a Patreon and a blog as the Scaldic Eagle and two main books of poetry in print.

One is called Viking Poetry for Heaton Rights.

And the other is Eagles Mead.

And the former is Alsatru ritual poetry and the latter is Runic esoteric poetry.

Wonderful. I'm working on one of my upcoming research projects would be more on quartz scalds or more on the scaldic poetry.

Okay, yeah. I think that's what I would, did you just drink out of a little chalice as well?
