Welcome to part two of the interview with D. Michael Quinn. Now, everything that was said in the

previous part of this interview really sets the stage for what we're getting into with this

episode. In here, we really get into the controversy surrounding Quinn's most controversial

book, Early Mormonism in The Magic World View. Of course, this came at a time

with Mark Hoffman. This came at a time when there was a lot of controversy in the church and in church

history. And what is interesting is Quinn shares a little bit about his interplay with various

leadership, members of the leadership of the church and offers a very candid view into what that interplay

looks like.

And what he also reveals, as we get near the end of this interview, is the feminizing of

Mormon history scholarship and the introduction of women beginning to publish articles and books

in this field, in a field that was previously

completely dominated by men. He gets into Leonard Arrington's role in really helping these women

gain a foothold into this field and the opposition from the leadership into these books being

published.

And the whole interplay is really, well, I am not going to try and draw any conclusions from all of this.

I'm just going to let the information stand as it is.

And hopefully everybody can take what they will from this portion of the interview. I also want to say that

this interview may be, this may be an interview that actually doesn't hold that broad of an

appeal. And I speak to this a little bit at the very end of the interview, but what I mean is
