It began with a strange email, an unexpected message,

and then over time something much darker, much more complicated.

My guest is Elizabeth Lane, someone I've known for about a decade.

We were introduced to her sister, Anna Marie, and over the years I've come to know Elizabeth

as a deeply thoughtful storyteller.

Elizabeth is the creator of the podcast series, Beth's Dead, a haunting and unsettling story

that begins in the early days of podcasting.

Back then, Elizabeth and her husband Andy hosted a popular show where they offered unsolicited

advice, funny, sharp, and wildly ahead of its time.

And then one day, a listener sent Elizabeth an email.

What she shared was startling, personal, and strange. That message sparked a correspondence,

one that would pull Elizabeth into a confusing relationship with a woman named Beth.

At first, it felt like an odd connection, but over time the communication became more

intense, more unsettling, harder to walk away from. And then came the email that changed everything,

Beth's brother Jason, writing to inform Elizabeth that Beth had died. From that moment on,

the story begins to spiral, because nothing is quite what it seems.

Years later, Elizabeth revisits the experience with fresh eyes, alongside producer Monica Padman,

and again with Andy, not just our co-host, but as her partner in trying to untangle what really happened.
