The material is just thin in my judgment. And so given how hard ancient history is in general,

0:09.7

I think that there are skeptical scenarios that work if you are a skeptic. I'm not a skeptic,

0:17.3

but I'm trying to be fair-minded and objective. I also happen to think, as I told you, I'm a Christian, I'm happy to say Jesus rose from the dead,

0:26.6

but I don't think I can persuade a totally open-minded person on the basis of history alone.

0:36.6

That just isn't the way it works.

0:40.8

I love because I'm alone.

0:45.3

Do you believe in hell?

0:48.3

Because I am helpless.

0:52.3

This water I am treading is now my own.

Welcome to the Deconstructionist podcast. I'm your host, John Williamson, or at least about 85% of him.

I'm a little under the weather, so if you notice my voice is a little hoarse, that's why. But, you know, the show must go on, as they say.

One of the things I had intended undoing was this week continuing with the next logical episode

1:24.0

in our series on grief and grieving. However, I had the fortune of getting a chance to

1:29.6

interview Dr. Dale Allison from Princeton Theological Seminary on a topic that I find fascinating.

1:36.1

I know a lot of you have asked about it, just in regards to some of the larger miracles that

1:40.6

occur or take place throughout the Bible. And this is the biggest, biggest one.

1:45.0

Obviously, you know, we are coming quickly upon Easter. And the resurrection is a big one.

1:51.2

You know, what, how do we, how do we think about this? How do we look at it? You know,

1:55.8

did it really, you know, happen? Was it, you know, a product of, uh, kind of revisionist history? You know, was it something that is meant to be

2:06.4

taken, you know, metaphorically? Like, how do we, how do we view this? You know, because it's obviously a

2:11.2

huge claim that we have as part of Christianity. So Dr. Allison has written and done tons of research, has written a really

2:20.3

fascinating book on the resurrection. And so we got a chance to talk. And I thought, how cool it'd
