Summary

Liz and Sarah discuss the paradox of Shrodinger’s Cat — a thought experiment in which a theoretical cat is both alive and dead at the same time — and how it embodies their career right now. In Take Two, they revisit the subject of personal canaries in a coal mine. Some of their favorites from listeners? Browsing real estate sites, leaving cabinet doors open, cleaning pencil sharpeners, and green juicing. This week’s Hollywood Hack will help actors prep their scripts: the Sozy Annotator. Finally, even though Liz and Sarah swore they’d never announce Beverly Hills Housewife Lisa Rinna as a Celebrity Sighting again, they can’t help but mention they saw her at Fryman Canyon this week. I've been drinking too liberally. I need to get to the fountain of three people.

By the way, that is lesser than I get.

Hello.

Hi and welcome to Happier and Hollywood, the podcast about how to be happier, healthier,

sane, or more creative, more successful, and more productive in a back-biting, superficial, chaotic, unpredictable,

0:27.5

fundamentally insane world.

I'm Sarah Fane, a TV writer and producer living in LA and with me is my high school friend and writing partner Liz.

That's me, Liz Kraft.

On this podcast, we talk about being writers in Hollywood, how we balance a career in friendship, and how to survive the war of attrition that is life and Los Angeles.

0:47.5

In this episode, we'll be talking about Shroudinger's cat, which is not an actual cat.

0:52.5

It's a thought experiment, devised by an Austrian physicist that pretty much summarizes our career right now.

0:59.5

And we'll be sharing our listeners' personal canaries in a coal mine.

1:03.5

We got a huge response to that segment and you all have a fascinating array of canaries.

1:09.5

And then we have a Hollywood hack that was invented by two sisters at my daughter's school and it happens to be perfect for actors.

1:17.5

And Liz, I feel like we have to acknowledge that we sort of accidentally stumbled upon a children and animals episode.

1:23.5

We have Shroudinger's cat, canaries in a coal mine, and a kid invention.

1:27.5

If this were an episode of TV, we would be totally doomed.

1:30.5

Yes, because for those who don't know, those of us who make TV and movies always say never work with children or animals,

1:37.5

because children and animals are notoriously unpredictable and unpredictability when you're shooting a show or a movie costs money.

1:45.5

And of course, both kids and animals can only work certain hours and you have to have special teachers and handlers.

1:50.5

It just like spirals into a whole thing, but we're a podcast, so we'll be fine.
