Well, Stephen, being their first Christian martyr, he paved the way, and it was Tertullian

who said the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.

Somebody else said, I don't know who exactly said it, but he said, the problem with Christians

is nobody wants to kill them anymore because they multiply every time you do kill them.

And this is what has happened with Stephen.

And Stephen died, there was a seed that went down, and it was really a starter gun for the church.

I don't remember where I heard it either, but it was said that when the Apostle Paul died,

undoubtedly, he entered into heaven with the stereophonic praises of the martyrs that

he had himself put to death, because that's how the gospel works, that we are rooting

for people to come to Christ.

That people would count us as their enemies, but we don't count them as their enemies.

We just realize that people are perhaps dead in their sins and their trespasses, that

we don't fight against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers.

That the thing that is going on around us is more spiritual than it is physical.

And of course, Stephen paving the way for us is just the one of many.

So he was the first, he wasn't the last, and until that last one comes and dies, and

whoever that is in an erud salvation, then Christ will eventually come, but yeah, it's

a pathway paved with blood.
