Hi, this is Josh Marshall, and this is the Josh Marshall podcast. It is two days after

election day. It is November 5th, 2020 and we are getting I think the

outlines of the story are coming into view now. We don't have a final result with the presidential, but I think everyone

would agree it is much more likely than not that Joe Biden is going to be the next president in the United States.

We don't know exactly the margin, but I think it will be the odds on are a healthy margin... it's looking like the democrats will have i guess

uh... a net one-seat senate pick up so far

and uh... very likely i guess not a hundred percent confirmed that will have two

runoff races in Georgia in January which sets up a I don't even know It's like a double rainbow double run-up for election

Yeah, I mean it's you know Georgia is not a small state, but man you're gonna they're gonna have a hard time packing all the money

that is gonna be poured into that state over the next two months in this because this

is if the Democrats won both of those races, they would control the Senate.

They would control it because it's a 50-50 split,

and Kamala Harris would provide the tie-breaking vote

for the leadership and control and all that kind of stuff that is I'm not sure it's quite a long shot

It's it's a it's a you know it's a tough bill it's a it's a it's going to be a real challenge but I think it

is looking like more likely than not that Joe Biden will win Georgia.

We certainly don't know that yet, but again, more likely than not.

And it's going to be so close in either direction that it is sort of basically a tie in the sense of where Georgia is.

So if it's a tie, you can't say winning a Senate race there is is like impossible or

aspirational and the the two they're not even one of them isn't really an incumbent just the sort of the placeholder

but the two senators are not terribly popular so you know it's it's doable

it's it's doable. It's not anything I would count on. My assumption is that
