Now there are aspects of every job that get way too much credit and also way too much

blame depending on the circumstance.

That is no different in football coaching.

And while there are many misconceptions, the biggest one in my opinion is play calling.

Now that isn't to say that play calling isn't important.

We all know it's a vital piece, but compared to let's say talent or the ability to bring

in talented recruiting classes and multiple guys that can play at a high level, it does

take a back seat.

Now the easiest way to win is to have the most talented players that are coached up.

And there have been many play callers on both sides of the ball that have just been

okay.

But since they had great players, they look like savants or da Vinci's.

Now on the flip side, there are some absolutely genius game planners and play callers that

look foolish because the players just aren't good enough.

If it was only about scheme, every team that everyone anything would basically just run

the same stuff.

Now this game will always be won by players while coaches watch and talk.
