Summary

The town of Salem, Massachusetts carries a mystique that can be traced back to what has made this location infamous and that are the witch trials that began in 1692. One of the prominent figures in those trials was a man named Jonathan Corwin. When another judge was reluctant to continue forward with the trials, Jonathan stepped in, signing arrest warrants and taking part in hearings. The result of these trials would be the deaths of nineteen people. Corwin owned one of the few mansions in town and it would come to be known as the Witch House. Legends have cropped up around the house that the souls of those convicted of witchcraft haunt the home and other tales claim that women were tortured there to get their confessions. None of these are true. But something is haunting the former home of Jonathan Corwin. Join us and our special guest, Amanda Prouty who has given tours in Salem, as we explore the history and hauntings of the Witch House. 1:30.6	how are you we're doing fabulous looking very forward to hearing all about the witch house from you because I don't know if we want to necessarily call you an expert but you had been a tour guide there right? Yes, I tour guided there off and on for about four years.
1:47.5	Awesome, well why don't you tell the listeners a little bit about yourself?
1:50.5	So I actually am a teacher by trade, and I've been a teacher forever decade. I teach history here in Massachusetts. I also had given guided tours all over Salem including on a trolley I gave haunted tours on a trolley a few years back and I was
2:07.1	literally the poster girl so that was pretty fun. So you had your 15 minutes of fame? I did I did my boss at Amanda taking a picture
2:15.8	Make a face and I did and I didn't know I was gonna end up with a poster. You know I've been living in Salem for 12 years now. I love her history. I think it's a great place to be even in the Halloween craziness.
2:28.0	Well I bet it gets kind of exciting to have all of the It's bread and butter really is a tourism industry and the town's population quadruples.
2:46.0	Oh wow. In the month of October, we're a city of 45,000-ish, just to give you an idea of how many people come into town.
