John Parr from Work Sop England. Together we dissect the writing, recording, and inspiration behind the smash hit, St.

Elmo's Fire, taken from the 1985 movie soundtrack of the same name.

John was fresh off a tour for his first self-titled album,

when producer David Foster contacted him to write a song together

for a movie he was scoring called St. Elmo's Fire.

The two wrote the song super quickly,

and the lyrics were inspired by Rick Hansen,

a Canadian paraplegic,

whose goal was to ride his wheelchair around the world,

which he did.
