Summary

Galen Broaddus is a writer, web developer, and occasional secular activist currently living in the flatlands of central Illinois. He just won a lawsuit that will allow Secular Celebrants to solemnize weddings in the state. I spoke with Galen about why this lawsuit was necessary, what services he provides families as a Celebrant, and why some atheists wish he never took on this battle at all. 1:14.8

college it just kind of sparked something that I think is sort of a curiosity that I had about a subject

1:20.4

I hadn't really thought of and I spent a lot of time probably about to be

1:24.0

honest about six or seven years where I did a lot of studying and I did a lot of

1:29.3

actually engaging with atheists I went to lots of atheists blogs and kind of

1:36.3

interacted with people. It's the same kind of story you hear from a lot of people.

1:40.0

There's lots of stereotype breaking and things like that and actually almost five years ago

1:45.6

I just sort of had a realization that I'd come so far that I was a I was sort of across that line

1:50.8

and was kind of across it before I realized that it actually happened.

1:55.5

And so that's about five years ago.

1:57.5
