Hey, everybody, super excited just to get you ready for my interviews with Pastor Mark Driscoll,

and just wanted to begin with a warning.

Let me just say that no interview is perfect.

Whenever I talk on stage, man, things don't always come out the right way.

And specifically, as you're listening, I just want to give this preemptive strike for all my haters out there.

There's a story that Pastor Mark will share specifically about

an encounter with the church in the Seattle area where the teachings of Paul became problematic

and they were not allowed to have church there. I didn't think about it at the time because I was

interviewing, but as I reflected and as I shared in my sermons this weekend,

Sandals Church had a very, very similar experience. I'm assuming the churches were the same

denomination. I have not asked Mark. Both churches also had female pastors, which, you know,

there are a lot of churches with female pastors, but the stories sound almost identical, but they

are very, very unique stories. And just know that

both Marse Hill and Sandals Church were started at about the same time. We encountered many, many

of the same problems as young pastors in the 1990s. And so I hope you'll extend just me some grace

and know that Sandals Church, too, had a very, very similar story. I think he shares that

the female pastor that he encountered was a bit abrupt. Sandals, the pastor that we encountered,

was never abrupt, but said that the Apostle Paul was a real problem and really, really challenged

for the first time in my life, the teachings of Paul. And she literally said,

you don't believe the Apostle Paul. And I said, yes, I do. And literally, this is what she said.

And I'll quote, the Apostle Paul did the best he could with the information he had. And what it does

is it degrade scripture and it takes it away. And so as I researched, I interviewed Pastor Mark
