The jealousy of man is enraged envy that is empowered by anger and sometimes even lust.

And I say the jealousy of man because it's really important, as we talk about jealousy,

that we also distinguish the jealousy of God versus the jealousy of man.

And a prime example of this, or I guess the reason why this is important is because

it's very popular nowadays to hear someone say how I would never worship a jealous

God.

She claims that she grew up in a Christian household, I think it was a Christian household.

But she said at some point, she read in the Old Testament that God was jealous and she

said, I can't worship a God who is a jealous God.

And the error that she made, one of many, is that the jealousy of God, righteous jealousy,

is different.

When God is jealous for us, it is for our good.

It is for our protection.

When we talk about as dads, we want to protect our daughters, as men come along, we want

to make sure those men are godly men that they have right intentions, that their plans

are good, that the reason why they have an interest in our daughters, pure and good,

you could say we are jealous for our daughters.

As men, we are acting in protection of them because we want their good.

And when we worship false idols, when we turn from God, God desires our good.

And he is jealous for us.

That is beautiful and good and protective and loving jealousy.
