On the very early morning of February 14th, 2000- 9 year old Asha Degree awoke from her bed and would pack a small bag and set out on foot leaving her family home in the middle of the night. The reason for her leaving is unknown and counter to the harsh conditions outdoors she would travel more than a mile through thunderstorms and darkness before being spotted on highway 18. When a passerby stopped to help her she ran from the road into the dark of the woods and this would mark the last time Asha Degree was ever seen.
