Support, Belonging, and Hope in Schools. Ross is a very positive guy, but unfortunately he met

0:15.6

in me a skeptic, a skeptic with data, a skeptic with understanding. What follows? Is that optimism and that

0:25.7

skepticism meeting head on? Look, we all understand education, or many of us do. I did K through 12,

0:35.1

I did college, I did grad school. I have a keen understanding about the

student, completely terrible. I did not like the idea of Michael memorized this and you will have a

1:38.1

successful life because someone will take care of you. I didn't like that idea. I was at O'Connell,

1:42.0

but I had family members that did the Fairfax County School System, and they had experience with the GT program and the LD program. You know, in my family, I saw all kinds of interesting things. And of course, I'm Gen X. Fairfax County has changed tremendously, even from the 90s. I don't think there's probably a county in the country, maybe Loudoun

2:01.0

County, that's changed more than those two counties for an assortment of reasons. So that's a

2:06.0

little bit of a backdrop for me. I happen to be in Asia now. I call that home primarily.

There has been a lot of interesting lessons for me learned. And a lot of my friends and I,
